Basement Dewatering System

Not that we want to remember the countless hours Joe (and a few others) spent bailing water out of our basement for two months...but, many of you have asked how the basement is doing. The basement is dry...Yipee!! We still have a TON of work to do to get it back like we remember. Here are a few pics Joe captured during the two and a half day process. This is a pic of the remaining furniture and "stuff" in the basement...all covered in plastic and now "dust and dirt!"

Pic of bathroom wall trench. We will have to replace a few ceramic tiles and of course put the toilet back in.

This is the storage closet trench. Notice the water in each pic of the trench pics. As soon as the trench was dug water started pouring through the openings. It was truly amazing that once the pressure was released the water started searching for the sump pump. That was the goal. :)

Pic of sump pump in the laundry room. As you can see we have quite a mess to clean up as the floor is very dirty, dusty, muddy. Not to mention replace the carpet tiles and have the carpet cleaned.

This part of the job was quite a pain as the guys had to jackhammer under the stairs and burrow through the bottom step. Here you can see the trench going through to the other side. This was not one of their favorite parts.

A pic of the drainage tile running throughout the trench.

I included this pic of the drainage tile because you can see the many roots that they had to jackhammer through. We are sure these roots played a huge part in the current drainage tile around the house to be clogged.

In this pic the rolls of white corrugated plastic was inserted up against the walls to keep future rain water from damaging the walls...it is supposed to find its way down to the drainage tile.

A pic of the trench in the laundry room...again another area they had to burrow between rooms.

Two lines leading to the sump pump. Our newest love!!
Once the tile was put in place, gravel was poured over the top and new cement finished off the project.
